Also the home of Stampede Wrestling in its heyday!!
  • Big Four Building, Ian (guest) wrote 18 years ago:
The Big Four building used to be the home of, and still holds the Guiness Book of World Record for having the most indoor curling sheets (48 sheets). The curling was removed in 1988 to facilitate a media location for the Winter Olympics and were never re-installed. Between 1988 and June 2008 it was the home of the Stampede Casino. It is named after the four ranchers who helped bankroll the first Stampede.

The new park is really disappointing. It's about a quarter of the size it used to be an my 3 year old son gets bored after 5 minutes. I called the city to complain but they were not open to any suggestions.

  • Alyth Yard, Massey (guest) wrote 18 years ago:
For any railfans, Alyth Yard is a mecca. It can be accessed from both sides (the best roster shots inside the yard are taken in the am). Standing on Blackfoot Trail bridge affords some very good shots of the maintenance facility and running power underneath. It is possible to follow the tracks on foot for quite a while and obtain somme excellent rail power shots. For those using Transit, the Route 24 skirts Alyth Yard for quite a distance.

The Neighbours used to have a payphone out front that would ring if you called it.
  • "Thunder" Hill, cipe (guest) wrote 18 years ago:
There used to be a soccer goal at the bottom of the hill, but a kid hit it one winter and died, so it was removed. Only a sledding master can ride Thunder hill from the top and not get uck'd up.
