Bowness has both high-end and low-end areas. It was originally a seperate city from Calgary, but has long since been swallowed by Calgary's expansion.

Great place for downtown dwellers to picnic in the summer. At night the boardwalks among the fountains are a great place for a first kiss!

The Palliser is across the street (south), this white building is an office tower.
  • Melrose Bar & Grill, D (guest) wrote 18 years ago:
Its in the centre of the block, not the corner. The corner is occupied by a small convienence store.

  • Crowfoot YMCA, G (guest) wrote 18 years ago:
Formally the Crowfoot Recreation Center. It featured a gym and waterslides. Layed vacant and unused for any years when the company running the building went bankrupt because they sold too many life time passes which prevented them from maintaining daily operations. The arena remained open. When the YMCA took over, they renovated the entire building to what it is today.
  • Eggs Oasis, G (guest) wrote 18 years ago:
Moved from across the street from where The Bedroom Shoppe is located. Moved for more space.
  • Ranchlands Elementary School, G (guest) wrote 18 years ago:
For a period of time in the 80s, some kids were sent to Jerry Potts elementary from Ranchlands. Jerry Potts is near Market Mall and is now being considered for closure.
  • Center Street Bridge, G (guest) wrote 18 years ago:
Also known as the Lions Gate Bridge. 4 Lion statues, 2 on each side protect Calgary. The original statues were given by the Queen, however they became eroded and were replaced by replicas. City hall had a small embarassment when the replicas they touted as unbreakable eroded even faster then the originals. The 4 original statues were restored, 3 are in storage, the other you can see at City Hall. There is a lower deck to this bridge, two lanes going North and South. There is not much room on this bridge so driver beware!
  • Safeway, G (guest) wrote 18 years ago:
Opened on Mothers Day 2001. Safeway used to have a location on the other side of the mall where Chili's and Aveda now sit. The old store used to be owned by Dominion. Thankfully taken down as there was a very large mice problem!
  • "Thunder" Hill, G (guest) wrote 18 years ago:
The hill can be dangerous in the tube that has been eroded. Many rocks and cliffs on the way down. Best taken on a crazy carpet if at all!
  • Red Rock Pub, G (guest) wrote 18 years ago:
Also home of "Harry's Pub," a popular local pub.
  • Ranchero Park, G (guest) wrote 18 years ago:
Nickname on the area is "Big Hill Park"
