  • Nose Hill, JG (guest) wrote 18 years ago:
It used to be done. My grandpa and uncles tell stories of getting stuck in ravines with their old truck about 20 years ago. I don't think that type of thing is still allowed. Now Nose Hill is just a nice place for a nature walk, and if you come at the right time the saskatoons are great!
  • Crowfoot Safeway, kl (guest) wrote 18 years ago:
"Food for Less" always was Safeway. It was a "big box" or warehouse concept that got dropped.

  • Foothills Stadium, A real baseball fan... (guest) wrote 18 years ago:
what does that mean? "an organization like the vipers" I'd much rather watch the brand of baseball that the Northern League has to offer then that of affilated baseball where your stars are only making a pit stop. An At least the owners of the vipers are prepared to invest money into the stadium and team to draw fans instead of letting the condition of the park drive teams away. Growing up in a major league market and being new to the city I didn't know much about minor league baseball and am excited for the season to start. Ask the baseball fans in Winnipeg what they think about the Northern League? I'm sure they'll tell you they wouldn't trade it for affilated triple A ball. If you really were a Calgary baseball fan you'd be out enjoying baseball, not bashing a decent organization trying to give the city a brand of baseball it can support.

  • Lake Bonaventure, Scott (guest) wrote 18 years ago:
A private use lake owned and operated by the Lake Bonaventure Home Owners Association. Lake access is available only to homes on the inside ring of Lake Placid Drive and it's cul-de-sacs. Homes either have private dock access from their backyard or share a communal dock accessed by a system of pathways located behind the homes. The lake is usually suitable for skating in winter, with periodic re-surfacing paid as part of regular maintenance. The lake is deep (roughly 14' off the docks) and suitable for swimming and boating. No power boats are allowed on the lake save for maintenance crews. The lake is stocked with fish in the summer months, and has an island in the centre with paths for walking and waterfalls and streams for circulation.
  • Celtic Soccer Fields, Scott (guest) wrote 18 years ago:
Free community use fields maintained by Calgary Parks & Rec and the Celtic Regional Soccer club. The fields are heavily used for soccer matches in spring, summer, and fall, but are also used by local residents for other sports like disc tossing, and also as an off-leash area for dogs. Rabbits and Coyotes from nearby Fish Creek park have recently become a problem and may pose a hazard to small dogs or children wandering alone, especially at night.
